GACFE Luncheon Meeting June 2, 2017
Speaker: Special Agent Michael Schulman, US Secret Service
Topic: Counterfeit Detection / Know Your Money
Special Agent Michael Schulman's presentation will be geared specifically towards counterfeit money. By the end of the presentation, attendees should feel comfortable in basic counterfeit detection by learning the attributes of real money. It will also focus on the new $100 note, as it is newer and contains some great new security features of which many people are unaware. Additional resources will be provided to attendees to supplement the presentation.
SA Michael Schulman has been in law enforcement for 12 years. Prior to joining the Secret Service, he was an Alpharetta Police Officer for 11 years, ten of which were spent on the K-9 Unit. During those years he worked with two separate dogs, Lekso and Chicko. Both dogs were trained in narcotics detection, article searches, man tracking, and criminal apprehension (bite work). He was also a SWAT operator and hostage negotiator before he transitioned to the US Secret Service in 2016. He is currently assigned to the Counterfeit Squad in Atlanta, but will transfer to the Los Angeles Field Office in August. Since becoming a Special Agent, he has traveled to Washington DC, Chicago, New York, Miami, Belgium, and Korea.
