                                Annual Conference of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Georgia Chapter

The Georgia Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners will hold its Annual Conference on November 6, 2014. This unique training opportunity is a must-attend event for accountants, lawyers, auditors, CPAs, government/law enforcement, and investigators, as well as anyone interested in pursuing a career in these areas. Topics will include:  The WorldCom Investigation, Cybercrime, Health Care Fraud, COSO developments, ACFE National Update, Internal Audit & Fraud Examination best practices. Some of the program highlights and notes are shown below.

Keynote Speaker:  Ms. Cynthia Cooper, WorldCom Whistleblower, is a dynamic and sought out speaker.  Ms. Cooper's courageous work as Vice-President of Internal Audit for WorldCom resulted in bringing several WorldCom executives to justice for corporate and securities fraud.  She is currently the CEO of The CooperGroup, LLC, a management consulting firm.  She has an amazing story which is also recounted in her book, Extraordinary Circumstances.

Featured Speaker:  Mr. Robert Hirth, Jr., Chair of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO). His experiences includes all of COSO's mission disciplines; Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Control and Fraud Deterrence.

Speaker:  Attorney Scott Killingsworth, Partner, Bryan Cave LLP will speak on corporate ethics and compliance.

Cyber Panel:  Moderator Vic Hartman, The Hartman Firm, LLC; Supervisory Special Agent David West, Federal Bureau of Investigation; Assistant United States Attorney Steven Grimberg, United States Attorney's Office, Northern District of Georgia; and Ronald Plesco, National Lead, Cyber Investigations, KPMG.  This panel will address the latest trends in cyber threats, fraud, terrorism, and mitigation strategies.
